Overview: Laws in affect on the local and New Hampshire state level may affect your project. Hogg Hill Design will assess and explain for you what laws and permits affect your project.  There are several possibilities:

Local: Planning board applications – local zoning approval. This generally applies to subdivision of lots, change of use of existing buildings and facilities.

State rules and permits:

  • New Hampshire construction approvals are required when subdividing land, building structures, campgrounds, changing use of structures, replacing failed waste water or potable water systems. Certain towns review and approval construction applications before they are submitted the State for approval.

  • New Hampshire subdivision approvals are required when subdividing and entail much of the same work involved with securing a construction approval.

  • Wetland crossings or construction.

  • Disturbance of large areas of earth during construction activities.

  • Construction of certain types of water supplies.

  • More rules may apply in certain specialized circumstances.
